What We’re Doing

The Goal

Climate Town’s whole deal is that we make comedy videos about the climate crisis. It’s a really complicated issue and a lot of people don’t feel comfortable cracking into it with friends, co-workers, family, whatever. Climate change can also get kind of boring sometimes if you’re not careful. We think if people like you and me talked about the climate crisis 10x more than we do now, we’d have a shot of solving this thing. We hope these videos will help that along.

Is It Working?

Honestly, we’re not sure. But if you’re using attention as a metric, then yeah it kinda is. Since we started out in August 2020, we’ve released more than 20 full length episodes that have been viewed more than 15,000,000 times & our YouTube channel just passed 450,000 subscribers. Our favorite stat to share, though, is that we’ve gotten people to spend over 2,000,000 hours of their actual lives voluntarily learning about climate change. We also started a Climate Town Discord server that has thousands of members talking to each other every day about climate news and science and political activism and a whole bunch of other stuff that we need people to be talking about.

What’s Next?

Until we stop pumping greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere like it’s 1999, we’re gonna keep making comedy videos about why we need to stop doing that. We’ve absolutely got to continue onboarding people into the climate movement and get them to demand a livable future. Climate change is not a problem we can solve with a quiet little choice at the grocery store - it’s going to take governments and corporations to stop paying lip service to the environment and actually start protecting it. And you know what governments and corporations hate? An educated, activated, grassroots movement demanding systemic change.
